I know this is an old thread. I just bought a oem plug to install in my bed, what size and shape whole did you drill/cut to fit the tabs on the back of the mount? Thank you
How did you remove the factory hook up that is mounted in the bed? Trying to remove mine so I can instal a bedliner and it’s not wanting to come. Figured I would ask before I attempt to jerk it off and break something lol

If you haven't figured it out yet, there is a spring latch tab (yellow) just underneath the plug opening. There is also a fixed hook on the forward side (red).
When I put my bed plug in I "cobbled" my own setup together. I took the aftermarket piggy-back setup and ran it into a TruckLite 12-pole (i think, grey with clear cover and 2 rows of bolts) junction box then cut it up and installed ring terminals, From there I did the same with the other half and ran it up the bed wall where I installed the original 05 7-way plug (put a newer style 7+4 at bumper) in the wall, That also gave me a connection point for the CHMSL wires and Power and Ground for the Backup camera relay and connections added. I also ran another lead to a 7-pin round at the bumper from the junction box.
The box is self tapped to 2 pieces of angle iron that was cut, drilled, and painted and fastened to the top of the frame rail hanging over the spare tire so I can attempt to service if/change wires if the need arises. Everything tested fine and working when I was done.
