It's one I made up this summer.
Used 1/2" stainless tube and fittings.
And also added a bypass. So if anything should happen to filter like a hole from road debris. I could block in filter and bypass around it and still have fuel supply.
I was thinking of making up a few when I get time for a few buddy's of mine .
If I ever get some extra time that is.
It was 3/8 tube I used not 1/2
But the valves or flolock brand 1500lb rated.
I got them from Grainger supply.
We use them at work all over our chemical areas. And run some bad stuff that you do not want getting out.
From corrosive to explosive. Liquid and vapors.
With no problems. So I figured it would hold diesel.
So far I've had no problems.
I have tube to hose barb fittings on the ends. Going to hose then clamped on oem fuel lines.
I change oil every 5k miles and oem fuel filter every 10k.
I have bypass oil filter I change at 10k.
So I guess I'll change fuel bypass at 10k also. I'm using fleet guard fuel filter.
There is a distributor on the way home. So there easy to get.
That said, though, from hydraulic flow standpoint, "best practice" is to route the bypass tubing at the same elevation of the in/out connections. Otherwise, the pockets will accumulate incoming entrained air which will eventually break free as a larger surge bubbles downstream into the pump suction. Might not happen often, but it can and eventually will happen.
I run the Racor PS120's on my veggie conversions. This is the only part of my VO system that is not HEATED. I have them running in trucks that plow snow all winter with no issues.
The presence of one of these filters is not likely going to affect whether you have issues from gelling fuel. If it can gel in the filter, it can gel in the fuel line and still restrict the pump.
I cannot see any reason for a bypass. In fact, I'm not sure its even a good idea... But, that is beautifully executed tigwelder!!!!

Exactly!
