I need some help please. I am reassembling my column on my "66 F-100, 240 cu in, 3 on the tree after replacing my the shift arms. I can't figure out what the two small nuts and bolts are for on the column flange. On the LMC web site page 55 they are numbers 20 and 21.
What am I putting together wrong?
Thanks.
john
Those are the bolts and nuts that retain the turn signal switch housing to the steering column. If you look on the bottom of the housing, there are little tapers where those square headed bolts go. As you tighten them, they move inward and engage the 2 square holes in the column tube.
Sorry Tedster9 I don't have any pics.
Thanks Old Crow, I see now how they work.
Now if I can get the shift column operating correctly I'll be rolling.
I have it assembled but it is hard to get it to find the neutral position and there is very little spring in the shift lever.
Can't help you there, my 3 speed column had been butchered many years ago after it wore out. I ended up swapping in a '76 4 speed column when I did the p/s kit.
Nice to have turn signals that cancel now(PO added one of those aftermarket t/s boxes to the column). A bit more work and I'll even have 4 way flashers and a horn!

With the steering column disassembled suggest order components for reconditioning the horn assembly, cost a few $. On my 65 there are 2 horn brushes that are kinda flimsy so may want to order a spare.
A wire runs the length of the steering column and attaches to the turn signal cam, 1 of the horn bushes sets inside the turn signal housing and the other sets in the steering wheel collar the horn ring attaches to. Anyhow, food for thought.

The only wires in the steering column are part of the T/S switch, there is no separate horn wire.
Sorry, 'failure to communicate', you are correct yet again, as I noted "A wire runs the length of the steering column and attaches to the turn signal cam", where 1 of the horn brushes inserts into T/S housing, failed to clarify it is not a separate wire.
From the column pic posted I do not see the horn brush I referred to, which I am ? certain inserts into the T/S housing thus requiring 2 horn brushes?
Bill, welcome back, Seems gone for a spell, hopefully doing well and decided to take a short vacation.
