ND Help Please - Steering Boxes
I've acquired some 61-66 items that I am slowly wading through. I have 3 one piece (steering shaft direct into box) manual steering boxes. One of them has casting numbers that match exactly what I took out of my 64 4X4 for the restoration period. Both mine and the one I just acquired have 5DC62 in the casting beneath the word GEMMER. Looking at some old posts, you once posted:
5DC62 = C3TZ-3504-W .. Steering Gear Box.
1963/66 F350 model 84 Chassis & Cowl Open Drive-Away (no windshield, no cab).
Model 84 steering gear housing, steering shaft and worm are different than F100/350 model 81 conventional cab.
C3TZ-3524-N shaft & worm F100/350 81 conventional cab: 40 7/16" long / C3TZ-3524-R shaft & worm F350 model 84: 45 7/16" long.
I haven't measured the shafts yet to compare what came out of my F250 but the above info would seem to indicate my box is not correct for the F250...
It sure seemed to fit OK in the truck...Do you know what the correct Ford PN is for the 64 F250 4x4, and possibly what the casting number would be? Thanks. The other 2 units I have are: C3TR 3550A (not a Gemmer?) and the other Gemmer has 4DC51 casting. I can get a few pics once the cloud warms up..lol.
