Wiring

What book do I need to look for to get the wiring diagram? I'm sorting out the PO's nest of wires that are tapped into various spots and trying to find where a few stock wires go that are just hanging loose. I also need to find the coil resistor. I have 12v at the switch and nothing at the coil.
Thanks

Any repair manual from your local parts store for
your year and model truck. Or look on E-Bay for
original manuals. Or get a CD Manual from I can't
remember where right now. But when the Gurus
come back on line Monday at work they can Tell
ya where to get the CD. Mainly I am just bumping
your post back to the top so maybe it will get looked
at more.

Posting couple pic's of 65/66 wiring diagram from Jim Osborn Reproductions for $7, found the manual helpful. Not sure if the Ford Master Catalog CD has wiring diagram; if so, may want to go that route for approx. $24 and it covers the just about every thing; including parts catalog, sheet metal description, etc.

This is the only pic I have in photo storage but will try and locate the manual to determine if there's a better view of the circuit. Unfortunately unable to enlarge to the point you can make out the info in the box with the wire number and color code; perhaps another member can provide a better view?

Since installing Duraspark ll electronic ignition I tapped into the resistance wire which on my 65, if recall correctly, is a pink wire located behind the dash near the ignition switch??

That's perfect. I can read it. #16 is red and green. So I have the right wire on both ends, just got to find that resistor in the dash somewhere!

Edited previous thread after your comment; when I swapped points for E.I., I tapped into the resistance wire, on my 65 it is a pink wire located under the dash near the ign. switch.

So I need the red and green wire on the start and pink on the "run" setting?

The 63 used a resistor or ballast wire. The only other resistor I know of is the dash resistor that drops the voltage to the gauges.

But it also has a red and green under the dash. I don't see anything listed as red and green except the coil....

Thanks. Pink wire just wasn't hooked up. They have it hooked to a red wire with a green stripe, which is also shown as the coil on the diagram.... So I'm guessing some where in this mess, is a plug at the other end of the red and green wire that the pink wire plugs into....

Only one resistor wire is required, it seems your truck has two.
