have replaced icm, coil, and distributor. runs fine when spout jumper is removed but reconnect seems to disable starting. have code 213. runs sometimes and then cuts out and dies but always starts right back up well most of the time.
on no starts we use to pull the spout out and if it fired up the stator in the dist. was to blame,The distributor came with a new stator? You may have to do some pinpoint test and find out if the processor is going. what is code 213,pip signal?
If you follow the code 213 it usually leads to an ECM failure, and when you unplug it it runs so the computer is nor grounding out the ignition and has no control of the timing or spark. You said you replaced the ECM right? wonder is you have a short to ground on the pip wire, a rub thru or something along those lines. Time to check for a short to ground, test light to positive post of battery and then to the end of the pip connector, should not get a bright light. If you do then you have a short in the harness somewhere. I'm not to sure on these replacement computers either. I have had bad ones right out of the box. I would trace the PIP wire all the way back to the PCM, make sure you have good continuity through the whole circuit. If I remember right it's a pink wire? Happy hunting
well it looks like I need to replace the pcm in my truck. went to parts store and said need reman pcm. my pcm is an 12a650-apa but counter person says he has a 12a650 arb and it supercedes the apa. what now?, not sure what is going on.
F2TZ-APA is for a 1992 F-series w/4.9L engine with a manual transmission and Federal Emissions. The F2TZ-ARB is also listed for the same truck so it should be fine.
