Mirror wiring ?

My 2006 E-350 came with the smaller paddle mirrors (manual) - Does anyone know if there is a wiring harness installed in the door for electric mirrors? I was hoping it was already there. Thanks, Bill

More than likely there is but that's certainly no guarantee. You'll have to remove the interior door trim panel and check to be sure.

OK- Thanks for the reply JWA - I was being lazy. Getting tired of adjusting the mirrors manually too, & the bigger mirrors will make things easier . I'll post back when I check it out, hopefully this weekend.

Its tough to say yea or nay on this only because Ford didn't always add or delete such features as a normal part of manufacturing.

Here's a link to removing door panels if you don't already know how this is done: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l-removal.html

An option is to pull the harness accordion to see how much wiring it shields. A full featured door has wires for power window, power lock, power mirror, speaker/s and courtesy light. If it's wired for a power mirror, the loose end is likely clipped to the inside of the door ahead of the speaker/speaker opening. Remove the speaker if equipped so you don't have to pull the waterproof barrier.

Good advice Tabijan!

A word of caution about that waterproof barrier----they aren't available from Ford or any other parts dealers or weren't last time I was checking. They seem to make no more than needed for new van manufacture and don't release them to the replacement parts market.

If it needs to be removed CAREFULLY peel it away from the door shell, stretching the adhesive thread holding it in place. A sharp knife CAREFULLY trimming that adhesive will leave enough left to re-stick the barrier when repairs are completed.

For mirror wiring inspection removing the speaker is best though---that barrier won't be in the way.
