I installed towing mirrors on my 2010 E350 today. Since they are power mirrors I had to remove the whole door panel to get to the wiring plug. Removing these door panels is easy to do if you've done it before, but its frustrating if you've never done it. So I figured I'd take some pics of the process.
1- Pull on the top of the black sail. It will pop loose. Then lift up and off.
2- Remove black screw behind sail
3- Remove black screw at bottom corner of door
4- Remove black screw behind door handle
5- Pull up on the window/door lock control panel. It will pop loose.
6- Reach down through control panel hole and push out the trim panel around the door handle.
7- Remove black screw on metal plate. There should now be 4 black screws removed from the door.
8- You should now be able to just lift the door panel straight up and off. Then unplug your power mirror wiring from the switch on the door panel.
9- Unbolt the speaker. Reach through the hole and pull the mirror wiring plug out and disconnect it.
10- Now you just unbolt the mirror and pull the wiring out of the door. Then reverse the process with your new mirror.
Check out the difference. Even when fully pushed in, the towing mirrors stick out probably 4" more than the stock mirrors.
BTW, the Ford dealership wants $700 for a pair of mirrors, so I got some non-OEM mirrors online. I got these telescoping power towing mirrors for $203 shipped. AM Autoparts - After Market Auto Parts - Headlights, Mirrors, and More I'm very happy with them so far. They have a cast metal frame inside. They weigh probably twice as much as the stock mirrors. The quality looks as good as OEM mirrors. I can't tell the difference. These might even be better than OEM.

You said, in another thread, that you had ordered a F Series grill. Will they fit? Are you after the "Super Duty: embossed on the top of it or some other reason? I want to go with a Black one.
Wonder what would be involved in getting the Excursion/F350 telescoping mirrors With Turn Signal Lights in them to work on our E350?
I thought about the same thing. I'm not sure that the "Sail" part of the mirror mount is the same shape. I think the van doors are shorter and the mirror mount might be narrower too. I need to park my van next to a F250 and compare them.

I just got a close look at the mirrors on a 2011 F250 and they will not fit on an Econoline. The base area is too big. Not sure about other years though.

The F250 grille doesn't fit. Totally different mounting and shape. Guess I'll resell it.
Killer, Thanks for the instructions and pictures (Marine Luv Pictures). I put mine on this afternoon with no problem even with my nieghbor helping. I can't believe the difference in vision in the normal position let alone towing.
I would send pictures but just look at your's and think no license plate.
