I am in the process of converting from the 3.03 to the C4 to be powered by a 240 (it is at the machine shop now getting rebuilt).
I have been searching for the some schematics of the hookups (I have purchased Lokar c4-kickdown and c4 shift linkage). I have found drawings but none with labels.
On the back side there is a vacuum powered diaphragm that I believe is controlled by manifold vacuum.
On the right side is the pan-based fill/dipstick and the two connections for cooler lines.
On the left-side, the shift control appears to have three controls. I am guessing one if for the kickdown and one would be for controlling the shifting, but what is the third for?
Usually there is a neutral safety / backup light switch in the linkage shaft. You can see the attachment bolt bosses on the case. I'm guessing it is for a remote neutral / backup light switch.
Tunnel vision did not allow me to think that some of the stuff on the tranny was aftermarket. Sounds like all of the arms will go away when I add my lokar transmission linkage and kickdown setup.
Appreciate the insight.
I think the numbers for the transmission cooler lines are:
7A030 and 7a031 along with 359281-S and another part, I think a clamp, 372223-S (GG-256-A). The radiator is a 8005. Would either of you happen to know the complete part numbers? Now I won't be using a ford radiator, but will be looking for an aluminum version, but would be nice to have the complete part numbers for interchange purposes.
I think Ted is right.
But think about adding that neutral safety / backup switch. They cost about $70 new.
I was thinking the neutral safety/backup switch was column mounted. I know I had a second set of wires for the auto column that I did not have for my 3-on-the-tree.
I think I ran across the column-to-transmission shift rod over the weekend. Must have been with the column when I removed it from the donor many moons ago. I am missing the part connecting it to the transmission.
So, at present I am still planning on using the Lokar aftermarket one and kickdown setup.
Looking at another auto transmission that supposedly came out of a 70s generation pickup. Ford C4 Transmission
Asking him to provide some pictures of the driver's side, so I can see the shift levers.
Can any of you look at this and tell me anything that might help.
