C6 vacuum question

Swapping my M5OD for a C6, with vacuum kickdown, into my FI 300 truck. Is there a particular vacuum source on my EFI that will work correctly for the kickdown??

The vacumn for the modulator on a C6 is from the manifold, in other words full manifold vacumn. The modulator is what times the shifts in a C6. (no vacumn no shift) The actual kickdown is the outer lever at the shifter on the left side of the transmission. The modulator can cause torque demand downshifts at part throttle. Full throttle downshifts are caused by the kickdown linkage.

OK, so if I follow what you're saying, I need to run the vacuum off of the manifold, say same source as brake vacuum, and rig a TV cable setup for the mechanical kickdown?

he is correct. the modulator controls upshift points as well as p/t down shift. WOT downshifts are by the cable/rod assembly. and you will need to fabricate one to operate it. i dont recall seeing a c6 in a 300 FI motor, only the aod and family. you could probably use the same cable, and fabricate the lower bracket. dont worry, the c6 detent is a set to "feel" cable unlike the aod which requires an exact setting to prevent tranny grenading.. sets trans line pressures etc..

huskyhauler is right, the aod requires the throttle valve linkage to follow throttle movement where C6 only needs a wide open throttle movement.

yeah i ran around for a year with out it on my old 351m. someone got excessive on the bending, and really tweaked it out before i got it. i just had to remember to kick it down manually when towing up hills.
