I know this is an old question probably. We're getting smoke and some noise that is a lot like a rocker arm. I can hear a sputter at idle but it's not a dead miss. I loosened the injector lines and they are all changing the engine when I loosen them so it's not a dead miss. I did the screwdriver on the injectors test and there are 2 of them that sound a lot different. Those 2 have almost a knocking sound through the screwdriver. I'm thinking the 2 noisy injectors are hanging up and not closing all the way. Any thoughts? Thanks for any help.
Yea, I had to find a longer screwdriver to get my nose off the turbo! We have another set of rebuilt injectors so we'll go ahead and change all of them. There's nothing like the latest diagnostic equipment. Thanks for the replies.

where were your injectors rebuilt?
I can't remember the name of the place in Michigan that did the pump and injectors, I'll have to look it up. We took them out year before last thinking we had a bad one and it turned out to be a loose rocker arm. They don't have very many miles on them. Yea , the stethoscope is a great addition to the tool box, we had one when I was in trade school many years ago and it's a lot easier then a screwdriver.
