Are 2000 intake manifold gaskets the same as 2001-2004? I know there was a switch to 3 valve at some time but were the ports/intake manifold gasket the same? What year was that switch?
Look at this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Time-Sert-Ford-Triton-Spark-Plug-Insert-Part-51459-New-/151658540351?hash=item234f8dad3f&vxp=mtr
And then this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Time-Sert-51459-M14-x-1-25-x-16-8-Ford-Triton-Insert-/361301622566?hash=item541f413f26&vxp=mtr
Same part numbers, whats the what?
If it helps, I changed Dad's 2000 f250 v10's spark plugs at 100k with out knowing of any possible spark plug problems before that and the same plugs are still in the truck at 150k+, Hard working farm truck that earns its miles the hard way.

Snow, the 3 valve motor first made the scene in '05 in the pickup trucks, the '05 EXs stayed with the same 2 valve motors as before. The 2 valve motors also hung around in some Econoline vans (with the 5R110 trans!, makes me day dream about a swap sometimes.....) after '05 as well as in the F-53 motorhome chassis for a couple of years.
Sorry brother. I know it helps the brotherhood, but you would have to do something like....
^^^This.

yes, there are many people and trucks running around on the stock 4 threads for their entire life many times. But since I have the heads off and on the bench now is the time for the preventative maintenance so I won't have to worry about it ever (hopefully). lol

Good info, thanks! Gonna get some intake gaskets coming. Still concerned about the timesert pics. I am thinking the one pic may have been just a generic pic the seller used but I would be sure upset to spend $111 of inserts only to find they have 4-5 threads. The one listing with the pic of endless insert threads may also be just a generic pic. They are both the same part number but it seems every pic I see of the inserts show a different thread count on the ID.
Seems like that is plug dependent. Maybe a different pat number with more threads at the bottom. For the 4 cylinder stuff I used to play with, you added a -C for the longer plug. You will have to do some model year research.....or just go to your local store and ask for plugs for several model years.....see what you get.
Whats the deal with the "long thread" plugs? Can those be used in the triton with the right insert?
Im sure the answer is yes. But, I would put the stock plug in and measure how far the end protrudes into the chamber. Then with the longer plug and insert, the same measurement. Sure dont want to smash the end of the plug with the piston.
Yeah I was thinking of that. I will have to stick a stock plug in and see what I see so I have a better idea of what is going on.
It really sucks that the inserts only have 1 more thread in them but now seeing the plugs it doesn't look like there is any reason to have more threads as there is only 5 on the plug itself. Also taper seats, I hate taper seats! Why doesn't ford get away from this poor 1950's design?
Maybe I can find an insert to use crush washer plugs. Hmmmm.
Find washer style plugs, make the inserts, take lots of pics, mass produce, BOOM, go-zillionaire!!
HA! I wish it were that easy. I'd be happy to be able to maintain $1000 in the bank.
I know time sert makes an insert for a crush washer plug for some motor that will work. I would just have to do the research to figure out what one that is.
First thing would be to find an appropriate replacement plug. First I have to figure out the heat range of the stock plug, threaded and unthreaded body depth (below the taper) And then the over all height. I think I am going to pursue this idea more. Because I hate taper seat plugs!
