Sure, cut the original feed to both lamps, insert a relay with it's contacts wired one side to the FG leads, the other side to battery supply 'through a fuse'.
Ground one side of the relay winding, connect the other to a parking light lead.
If you want a control switch, put one in series with the relay winding to ground.
That way you will only be ground switching the circuit.
This provides power to the FG when they are on and provides short circuit protection.
Always use good workmanship, wire size and secure the leads from hanging lose.
Good luck.
Well that escalated quickly... I didnt really wanna go into all that i was just hoping for a new switch or something. lol i could do it, just didnt wanna have to go into that much depth. Thanks for the info
Let me ask you what you thought you could do that is simpler and still have the control you wanted?
You have to break into the factory wiring and make changes no matter how you do it.
Good luck.
I did this to a buddys foxbody car, but the fog light switch is on a different switch from the head lights, so he can choose if he wants just park, or park and fog. and if im not mistaken the way you suggested would mean when ever the parking lights are on, the fog lights will be too, no matter what. and i dont want it like that. i know on the newer (starting in 2004 maybe...?) F-150's you can pull the fog light switch out with just the parking lights on. So i wasnt sure if somebody made a aftermarket switch that did that or if there was a way to modify the factory switch to do that. i havent really looked at it before it was just a random idea i had. so i wanted to ask
I had initially just jumped the #5 and #12 wires so they were always on.
I did not like not being able to turn the fogs off while my headlights were on so I filed the switch (but only on the Auto side, did not do it on the parking light setting since I never take my lights off of Auto).
My only question is what does splicing wires 2 and 12 do? I dont have the auto feature on mine. kinda glad cuz im not really a fan. I just wanna be able to turn my fog lights on and off with just the parking lights on. lol
Not sure what the #2 (fog output I believe) to #12 does (I saw it in the write up), but when you jump #5 to #12 it powers the fog lights (#5) from the parking lights (#12).
The pic is how I did it initially (#5 to #7) but the fogs stayed on any time the the headlights switch was in the auto position (even if the ignition was off), so I moved the wires to #5 and #12.
Since I did my HID retrofit, I just pulled the jumper off, the fogs are pretty much worthless now (kind of were before too).
