ABS question....
I have a 2004 F150 XL Heritage V6 2WD with 118k and with the ABS idiot light on. I already looked through a few threads with "ABS light" in the title and decided to replace the speed sensor above the rear differential since several guys said there's a good chance that's the problem and the part is only $12.99. I removed the bolt and tried to pry off the old one but it broke in half and I don't see any way to remove the broken half out of the hole that it's in. I plugged in the new one and started the truck and the ABS light is NOT on so can I just attach it to something up there with duct tape? If not how do I remove the broken piece from the hole? I took some pics of the broken piece but I don't know how to attach them here. Thanks in advance....

It is just a plastic tube with a magnet inside and an o-ring seal around it. I would try to screw a wood screw into it and pull it out, or drill down 3/8 inch into it and screw into it, etc...... The light will be out when you are setting motionless. THe ABS checks continuity thru the pickup... When you start moving, it will come back on as it does not see a speed signal. It is comparing the front wheel speed to the rear speed.

I checked out a few more threads with "ABS light" in the title and one guy said his light had been on 4-5 years with no problems so I'm just going to leave it as is. A couple other guys said they put a piece of black electrical tape over the idiot light so I did that this morning so as far as I'm concerned the problem is resolved....
