another blower motor question 1999 e150
. not here to beat up on ford cause i know chevy is just as bad but as long as its "american" im good with it lol.but anyway to the question, my moms e150 blower motor control switch is gone (i think). a couple weeks ago while riding with her to the hospital to see grandma i went to adjust the blower speed (the **** was missing) and it burnt the hell out of my fingers. in a rush cause it was an emergency we couldnt stop and kept going.
today mom told me the front fan isnt working at all. i dont know much about these fords but i went to the fan put the key on "run" and turned on the vent. with blower control on low i can hear what sounds like the front fan blowing very low, turned the front switch to next step up no change and no change all the way up to hi. so the front motor isnt responding at all to the switch. i know when it burnt my poor little fingers it was tough to turn and now it freely turns. then i turned the rear switch to circulate and nothing (guess its for a blender door) turn the rear to each speed and the fan reacts respectively.
ive done a little searching before i asked this question. didnt come up with much and not really any part numbers. im a moderator on 73-87chevytrucks.com so i can trouble shoot them very well and im totally against throwing parts at a truck without trying to test them first but i just dont know where or even how to take this dash apart to even look at things. i know i havnt said it before but i really hate this van, not so much as a ford but the compact design of the engine bay. i even went as far as paying someone else (a shop) to clean the egr passages. which they lied about doing, needless to say that shop isnt in business anymore
Easiest thing for now is to check the resistor network; earlier Chevy's had those too.
Be advised if that's the issue the pigtail lead from chassis wiring might have welded itself to the network---I use NAPA parts for both.
