Rebuilt Radiator now new pressure cap?
I recently had my radiator overhauled and recored with a new core. I was told today how ever that this was what they said was a "no pressure" core and that I need to run a 8 to 12 lb cap vs the original 16 lb cap. I need to check my original cap as I believe its a 14 lb cap.
But I wanted to ask has anyone on here ever heard of a radiator having to run a lower pressure cap after being rebuilt due to how it was built? I hate the thought of this because that means if someone else in the future gets this vehicle and buys a replacement cap for it, it could damage the radiator if what they say is true.
~update~
I just looked and the car has a 13 lb cap so I will be asking the radiator shop in the morning when I pick it up if it would hurt to run the original cap since its just 13 lbs a lb more than they gave me rage wise.
