Where is ignition module on 84 f250 351w? Want to convert to DSII, thought I would be changing modules, but there is no module in sight to change, only 3 plugs on drivers side inner fender.
I have been driving truck, something has to control the ignition. There is a bundle of wires coming out of the firewall with 3 plugs and they plug into the ignition wiring harness, no box, plug to plug. And as far as I can tell, when they go thru firewall they go to fuse box, no ignition box anywhere.
Trace the (3) wires exiting the bottom of the distributor. Most likely, they will be in a loom [wire cover]. Those wires are what trigger the ignition. If there is no Duraspark box, look for a MSD red box or else a GM 4 pin ignition module mounted to a piece of steel or aluminum [heat sink].
The + & - ignition coil wires connect to the ignition box as well.
Look at the distributor. If it has a plastic rectangle box with a connector on it mounted on the side of the distributor with a couple torx screws then it's the TFI ignition module ( like NumberDummy mentioned ) .
If it's TFI it's usually a light gray color.
If you are swapping to DS II then that requires swapping the distributor, harness and adding the DSII ignition module. Not just swapping the ignition modules.
And you do know you posted this in the inline 6 forum. You might want to see if a moderator can move it to the SB V8 Forum for you.
