EASY REAR AC FIX

EASY REAR AC FIX
Hope this helps others.
Noticed my rear AC in the Excursion stopped blowing cold air a couple months ago. Fan was blowing but no cold air. Since I don't drive the vehicle to often and usually don't have passengers in the back seats I kinda put off looking into the cause until recently.
Living in central Florida and summer almost here thought I better fix it.
Researched it here on FTE and found the most likely problem is the thermal expansion valve.
I opened the jack compartment to see how difficut it would be to change the valve and while there noticed the wire connectors to the blower. While the vehicle was running and the AC on I unplugged the connection towards the front of the blower unit then re-connected it. Next I attempted to unplug the connection at the top of the unit and the circuit board came out of the holder.
I unplugged it from the wires and upon close examination noticed a discoloration on the back side. As I lightly wiggled the the transistor, diode, or whatever it's called it seemed to be slightly loose. A bad solder connection.
I then re-attached the wiring and, COLD AIR. Now if it happens again I'll just have to either attempt to re-solder the connection or get a new circuit board.
Hopefully this fix will help others with the same problem.

Got a pic of the other side of the board? Might be able to buy a new piece if you can get the numbers off of it and solder in the new piece. I have done it many of times on smaller surface mount stuff so that should be easy. Also that solder joint right above that burnt area looks like it wasn't soldered to well.
