95 Explorer AC unit help

Good day. I'm the proud owner of a 1995 Eddie Bauer Explorer and I'm happy with it. Clock stopped working 4 years ago @ 149K miles. This truck saved us from a flood and due to it, i just replaced only the transmission on it. Anyways onto the good stuff...
M explorer has a electronic AC unit. It also controls whether the rear AC controls. One day, i turned the AC on, only to find out the AC was not blowing from the central vents, only from the defroster vents. Days went by and all of the sudden... no air was blowing. The display was lighting up as usual but no air was comming. There was no compressor noise either nor hot air. However, the rear AC blower was working as usual, strong and icy cold.
What could be the problem? There is no noise or any activity if you press any of the controls, BUT the rear AC button does do something...

For a better understanding... when i got the truck i had only either, MAX AC cold air or totally hot air if the temperature setting was changed, meaning, no mixing between the two... just not working. also the automatic temp would not do anything.

thanks for the time and expertise, i hope i can find a solution...

Got it

Thanks for reading. I have sorted the problem out and turns out i had a bunch of them... here it goes:
The bad part is not the connector nor the harness.. the bad part is the speed regulator (resistence) itself. After removing a few things outta the way to work more comfty, This is a pic of the little sucker:

While i was there, the motor was removed, checked and the evaporator cleaned. let me tell you.. that thing was cruddy as heck. A little foam cleaner squirted on it and then after a few minutes hose it down.. voila... clean as new (i owe you the pic)

After removing the part, it comes assembled with the black plastic thing. Turns out, this resistence goes inside the fan housing and has a small heat dispenser so this cools off itself.

This is a pic of it, disasembled:

Another look:

Well that little piece was the cause of the following problems:
AC not working
AC working only while full speed (while it was good some months ago)

The "got no air but on the defroster vents" problem, was just a mere vacuum hose that was disconnected from this tiny sphere shaped deal that is bolted on the fender well... (owe you a pic of that too)

Once we knew the culprit, we tried unsucesfully to get it. we tried part stores and even junkyards but no avail. My only chance now is go across the border (i live in mexico, close to Texas) and try my luck there...

My wife had the courage to call the local dealership... $220 for the #$%#$%resistance. I don't think so.

Let me know if you guys know the name of it or a place in the US to get it.

I hope my pictures and story helps another desperate soul.

Thanks!

im not 100% sure on the ELECTRONIC unit, but the standard trucks have a vacuum controlled set of doors that direct the air to the defrost, vents, or floor. if you have no vacuum, it defaults to the defrost. yours is the same. the difference is on the standard truck they have a mixing door that is controlled by a motor that mixes the hot outside ari and the cool inside air to get the right temp per the dash ****. yours works a little different, but im not sure. do you thin you can eliminate the resistor thing and get it to work like the standard truck??? if someone knew exactly what that thing did, maybe it can be bypassed???

at the moment, the electrician hooked up a relay meanwhile the part is sourced off somewhere. that way i can get cold AC air (despite only @ max temp). Temperature here has reached 90's already and leather seats are a drag in hot days.

the vents did not worked due to the vacuum hose being disconnected. that is working now

next step... check for the blend door fix...

AC only on defrost

Hey guys
My daughter 05 EB has the same problem....Will it also have the vacum hose that needs to be replaced or reconnected that will fix the problem? Is the v shape part also attached to right/passenger fender well? did you ever get a photo of this part?
