2002 excursion Rear AC not Blowing cold
My rear AC on my 2002 excursion is not blowing cold air, the controls on the ceiling work: fan control, panel/floor but the temp does not work.
I checked all the fuses on the inside panels: they are OK, except 1 that was for the secondary cigarette lighter on the front dash.
Is there a second AC unit?
a different fuse?
where should I start looking?

The rear system operates off an expansion valve in the back which converts the high pressure low temp liquid back to a low pressure gas. These valves get stuck and need to be replaced. If your front is cold and the rear isn't that's probably your culprit. The system has to be evacuated to replace it.
This is the reply I got when I asked the same question...I never got around to it yet. Ford estimated it to be $250 and my AC guy was too busy to squeeze me in yet.

2002 FORD EXCURSION REAR AC CONFUSED
I HAVE A 2002 FORD EXCURSION THAT HAS OVER 220000 MILES. THE FRONT AC WORKS FINE EXCEPT WHEN AT A DEAD STOP. WHILE AT A LIGHT OR IN TRAFFIC THE AC DOESNT BLOW COLD COLD. IT BLOWS COOL. BUT THE MINUTE WE TAKE OFF IF BLOWS COLD. MY BIGGEST PROBLEM IS THE REAR AC. DURING NORMAL WARM/HOT WEATHER CONDITONS THE REAR AC WORKS FINE. BUT WHEN IN EXTREMELY HOT WEATHER CONDITIONS, TYPICALLY OVER 100 DEGREES, IT JUST BLOWS WARM/HOT. CAN ANYONE HELP?!?!?!
