Hey Fellas, been away for a while. Interested if anybody has had problems hooking up an AOD to their steering column. Best idea I come up with is to use 80-91 linkage with the frame bracket. Have to move arms to clear the crossmember, tho'. Appreciate any thoughts.
on mine, i made an addapter that bolts on the stock linkage on the tranny, then it bolted right to my stock shifter ( c-4 and c-6) this has worked great on 3 trucks sofar
yeah, it bolts to the linkage hole on the leaver on the tranny, then has 2 peices of 3/8 square stock on the sides to keep it lined up. from there it extends the same distance from the center of the linkage shaft to the hole on the c-4 tranny leaver.
btw, all the trannies i've used, are from crown vic's, i don't know if aod's from other cars are the same.
hello bull, how did u hook it up to the carb?? what kind of carb r u useing I have a holly 2 barrel and would like to be runining a aod for the better top end. do u have a digital camera to take some pic??? thanks in advance. Steven
yeah, mine's hooked to the carb, but i'm using the whole engine/tranny combo from an 84 ltd. the big thing with the kickdown, is to make sure that it moves in sync with the throttal. from idle, to wot.
i have a crappy digi cam, and i don't know when i'll have time to get pics
okiewelder, I'm hooking up a Lokar tv cable for AOD. It will connect to any Edelbrock carb or SOME Holleys. A Holley needs a mounting hole 1 1/4" BELOW the throttle shaft on the throttle plate. Many have it, many don't. Looks to be a good setup, but kinda expensive($50 + $25 for carb bracket)
i you guys are interested, in a linkage for the shifter, i could probably fab up a couple some time... i'll have to take a look, and let ya know how much
