Need some help guys.
Driving home the other day and truck didn't seem right. The closer to home I got the weaker it got to the point when I pulled on to my street it would only idle. Took out my spare ICP and installed it and still would not make it up the driveway. Went after the ICP and found that both of the ICP wires were melted to the point that they were completely bare with no insulation at all.
Removed the ICP and the screen was very clean with only a couple of small specs on it an I think that was from having to fish it out of the HPOP. Installed new ICP with a new pigtail and still have the same P2290 code.
Doing an air test tonight to check for leaks. If it turns out to be STC fitting should I change the pump as well being I'm right there or are they pretty reliable.

You won't have an STC fitting. You've either got an HPO leak or your pump is dying. The 04 motors don't "usually" sprout leaks under the valve covers as bad as the 05,6,7 trucks but they can. Either way, an air test is in order before shelling out $$$ for parts.
Thanks npccpartsman, have you ever heard of any of these melting the wires to the IPR? Is there a fuse or relay that needs to be reset after you get them replaced? I have to replace the injector wiring harness as well due to the damage caused by the melted wires, seems I had a small fire under the hood and did not even know it.
