Just picked up a couple unity vintage spot lights that id like to install on my 64 4wd truck, i think i got a good price for 5 of these plus a bunch of other antique lights, just wondering if anyone would know anything about these, 2 are complete, 1 is missing the light but everything else is there and the other 2 have the handles off (do have the handles) just wondering if these are rebuildable? How are these things wired and such? Thanks for any advice or please tell me if im in the wrong area of the forum and point me in the right direction
They are cool, aren't they? Check your state law, they may not be lawful? I dunno. Unity is still in business, btw. I'd start digging around the web. Betcha there's a web page outlining the history, care and feeding, a support group and tweeter feed on them and the rest of it, YouTube vids, etc.
Been a while back since I refurbished my roof mount Unity cab light so can't recall the details but like Tedster9 said Unity is still in business. I called them direct and got my parts. I think I talked to the service dept or something the guy was really helpfull. Got their number off their website. I'm thinking there are two type setups 6volt and 12volt and you can convert to either.
Thanks guys for the replies! I looked one of them up last night and found a parts sheet that had the whole unit apart and part numbers off their website, also ordered a few handles as the one i took to work with me to tinker with had a stripped gear. Mine dont look as good as yours tho haha bit ill get a picture of them later in the day
Unity still makes the exact same light. They still make the correct installation kit for the slicks too. I have one sitting on my seat waiting to be installed but I can't bring myself to take a drill to my truck.
sorry i didnt get a chance to get a picture of mine, i was pretty busy today and working 3rd shift doesnt help... but i did find that i have 3 S6 spots and 2 smaller H1 spots, how do you know if they are 12v? plus i also have a blue unity light as well, what was that used for?
If I remember correctly the difference between 12v and 6v was just the light itself and you can/could still get the light. I looked through my pile of parts and found what I think is the box the bulb came in for my 6v to 12v conversion it's a Wagner brand part number H-7635. Probably got it at an auo parts store or Walmart.
As for the blue light I would take a guess it was used on official vehicles because here in Iowa the only vehicles allowed to utalize blue emergency lights are state patrol & ambluances etc.
