A good key shop will have the programmer. Was significantly less expensive than the dealer price for me. Did three keys for $100. I would keep an un-programmed key hidden somewhere accessible underneath if you lock your self out away from home.

ok thanks for that information. then can someone tell me if the chip is one of those like in the chevys that has no battery in it? and there is a coil around the key that excites the key. on the chevy they called it a transponder key. if so then there is a way around it i did it with the cobalt. tell me does the truck require the transponer key for entry if locked? or just to start the engine? if it is just for starting then regular key will do for 5.00 instead of whatever the dealer will charge for the transponder key. thanks
