Hi guys I need some help and have a question. I am 150 miles from home and my engine light turned on. I don't have a scanner, no message has come up in the message display. If one of the infamously notorious EGT sensors is going south would I get some type of message in the message display. The truck isn't running badly just the light came on. Any ideas or do I need to have a tow on speed dial.
you have the following services from Ford if within the mileage limits
Ford Motor Company gives you peace of mind with the
complimentary Roadside Assistance Program. Services
are available from the warranty start date and last for
5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever occurs first. The
services available are:

I would drive on home...you have towing assistance as i posted above.
If engine related, the engine is under warranty for 5yrs, 100,000 miles.
Or you can stop if near a town and have a part house like Advance or AutoZone pull codes and see what it might be.
Weird thing, started the truck yesterday morning and the light did not come on and did not come back on. I will finish my journey today and will post back with the result!
Made it home, the engine light never come back on! I need to take it in and have the recall done and maybe when the light came on it threw a hard code that they can check. Thanks for the replies!

I'm glad you're going to go ahead and bring your truck in to the dealership, RedBoat. Come back and tell us how things go; I'll keep checking in here to see when you have any news.
Redboat, I had similar experience recently with CEL coming on suddenly. I drove directly to my dealer and did not have to tow. They pulled P1558 code in my case. I ended up getting injector #8 replaced with IQA reprogrammed under warranty. They did the 14E03 recall also. No CEL is back on yet, but I'm watching my dash closely. I'm interested in what code they pulled on yours. By the way, there's a nice comprehensive full list of codes (and what they mean) for 6.7L at another forum. I think it's posted as a sticky. Make sure they pull the code first and fix the cause, then do the recall which may wipe out the stored code in the process.
