I used a Jones 3" x 29" glasspack and Y from Summit with dual 2.25" pipes out the back and it sounds good. That's because it's not much louder than stock. I bought the longest muffler I could find.
Listen kid, you asked, I told you. No apologies for telling you what to expect. Enough people have done stupid crap to their vehicles because nobody told them what was going to happen. I told you what the outcome will be, free of charge even. You're welcome. Don't expect anybody to be very nice to you with an attitude like that.
Listen I saw reviews saying it would make it sound aggressive and great even on the smaller engine... So I bought it. unfortunately its already been shipped. i might just see how it sounds since I'm redoing the whole truck and the orignal rotted away and fell off. And I'm sorry for calling you a db but your like the 5th person to correct me today and I just got some what annoyed with the way you went about it.

Dusty, you posted a question, be prepared for honest responses here. You need to act like an adult here and accept poster's answers when you yourself asked a question because you yourself did not know the answer.
Stick around and be courteous or at least not rude and you will learn a lot and get any help you could need.
Well I apologized... On a lighter note if any of you guys want to check out my truck I just uploaded a bunch of pictures of the process I've been going through.... Enjoy
I been looking at this cat back from flowmaster, yes I have heard about the drone noise. I have also been looking at magnaflow but they dont offer a cat back system, just pipe. ??? I know my 96 f250 is being choked out the the cat so i thinking o
f running a test pipe through. Any thoughts? The flowmaster 17211 is about 400 bucks but i already have cast iron headders?? She needs to breathe
Your catalytic converter is not hurting your performance unless it is plugged.
If it is, there are high flow units available (magnaflow) at Ebay for less than $100.
Flowmaster IMO, is mostly hype as far as performance. I LOVE the sound of 40s on a Mustang but I don't want them on my stuff, not since I was in my 20s.
A straight through muffler like a Magnaflow is better flowing and not nearly as loud (in cab and out).
Zero drone with my installation, quiet at idle and sounds great when accelerating.
351 5.8l mfi it is the HD so the cat and stock muffler are aprox 48in long. Iam not in the mid 20s either lol I dont loud. I want a good sound and breathing I know the 351m can be a good towing motor mine is a stick
Then if you don't want a VERY irritating drone noise in the cab, don't install a Flowmaster. Look at Magnaflow or other straight through performance mufflers. Straight through does not mean loud if the muffler body is large. Dynomax Mufflers is on here as a poster, they rec their straight through welded muffler. With a cat, around town and at idle it will sound almost stock. When you stand on it, it will have a nice rumble but not be a cop caller.
My just slightly louder than stock 29" glasspack video. It really sounds a bit lower than this but here ya go. I also don't have my 3" tips on yet which should change the tone a bit.
I love driving Lafawnduh. That truck rides and drives so nice and has loads of grunt down low just like a 460. I gotta find some used tires for it, but 15s are scarce.
I owned Flowmaster 50-series for 12+ years now on 300/I-6's, and they sound ok. I just recently bought a Hooker MaxFlow and it sounds and performs demonstrably better. Maybe a Magnaflow would have been even better- I don't know but I know I'm in the right ballpark now by skipping Flowmaster.
"Dronemaster" is appropriate, but if you keep the factory cats intact it's actually a pretty quiet motor. Even with a 2.25" straight pipe (factory diameter) it won't be very loud.
