There is a ton of stuff out on the web about identifying automatic transmissions. Here's a sample. Usually counting the number of bolts that hold the pan on is a good starting point to narrow it down some.
Look forward to finding a fix for my truck. Looking around on the internet for what I think my truck has (C-6 trans) I'm not seeing anything used yet. Just rebuilts

I just crawled under it and counted 17 bolts. So looks like a c6. There were black widows under there. Stuff of nightmares! Nothing like being on your back and looking up at them...
Be aware that there are several different versions of a C6. You will need to find one with the same bell housing pattern ( what motor do you have), driveshaft length, column shift or floor shift? Much more to consider than just being a C6.
NO Ford truck was available with a floor shift A/T until the 21st century.
I know that ND but we know his transmission is not original, and since C6 were available in some cars, who knows what was swapped in. I would assume that his truck is still column shift but without the OP telling us what he has, who really knows. I just wanted him to be aware of what could be different about a C6.

Thanks Mike - I guess I just have to raise the truck up and try to take the trans out. I wish I could just find an engine-trans combo as seems easier to pull both out with my loader since this engine is not firing on the cylinder nearest to the driver.
