Transmission Id?
top line: PFB F
2nd line 012406
The transmission casing has C8AP-7006-C cast into it.
Casing is cast iron, has removable aluminum bellhousing
Can anyone id this transmission- Cruise-O-Matic? or ?
Does the number cast into the casing indicate it is a 1968 model, car or truck?
Thx. Jeff
Ford car parts catalog: 1968 PFA-B1, D1 & F = MX Cruise-O / Truck catalog: 1968 PFB-B1, D1 = MX Cruise-O.
The problem is, I loaned my 1965/72 L/M parts catalog to a local Ford dealer, as they have a customer w/a 1967 Lincoln, and don't have the catalog.
FX/FMX/MX have 14 trans pan bolt holes, but based on the case, this isn't an FX or FMX.
ID number: C8AP-7006-C = Ford part number: B8AZ-7005-F .. MX C-O-M Trans Case
Some applications: 1965/67 F100/350 352 / 1965/72 F350 300 I-6 / 1965/68 Galaxie/LTD 352/390 (Some 352's also came with the FX) / 1965/67 Thunderbird 390.
MX uses a specific pan, pan gasket & filter, not the same as the FX/FMX

The data will contribute to a successful rebuild.
