No plowing for me. 1) I'm too lazy, and 2) I really am hoping it warms up enough to melt it quickly. Most of my driveway is gravel anyways and with the temps up there last week I'm only going to destroy things. Hope everyone has a great weekend. I'm going to be working on refreshing a skeeball machine I bought for my wife's birthday a few weeks ago
Morning guys, off to work! Yesterday we managed to grab a mostly rust free 1/2' bed for my boss' '04 crew cab. Found the bed up in windsor, they are damn near impossible to find in decent condition. This one only had a few minor spots of surface rust. It's going to be sandblasted clean and painted on the bottom and then rhinolined on the inside of the bed, I think it's gonna come out sweet!
Good morning everyone. Sounds like a good deal Kyle, it's a shame what these winters do to trucks. I've always thought they should do a better job rust proofing.
Yesterday we took advantage of the warm weather. Still have my mom's Pioneer, so I took my son out in the snow. Climbed the snow pile without issue, but then fell in a hole...
Got overconfident and went down a trail in the woods. Got her good and stuck...
Came back to the house to grab a chain and get my wife. Had to winch out about 6 times before we were able to get to stable ground. Once it was free it sank right back in...
In other news I had my dad go outside and try the Lincoln. She started right up. Must have been ice in the fuel line. Now just have to find a time to get up there to drive it home.
Tom that looks like a lot of fun! I haven't been on a side by side like that in years. It must have been a bit frustrating to get stuck so many times! I hope all this snow continues to disappear quickly. Also, I don't know if you've seen one of these superduty beds off of the truck its self, there's really nothing to them at all, so thin and light, I am not surprised that they rust after seeing it off the truck like that.
It was frustrating, and without the winch it would probably still be out there.

I've heard that from a few people. Apparently the bed only weighs a few hundred pounds. Thin metal only rusts when the coating fails, so why not a better coating?
Tom, looks like the little one had a good time in the Pioneer. And I think getting stuck is part of the fun. Good news that it was only ice in that white whale. Now just a ride up and back is a lot cheaper then parts and your labor.
It's almost time to make a run to Vermont for maple syrup. For me it's just an excuse to go to Vermont for a day. My wife is a covered bridge fanatic, and there are a lot of them in Vermont.

The way the bed supports are set up, it's basically an open channel for all kinds of stuff to collect in. I bet the lack of a better coating is all about $$$. The beds definitely are light, only took two of us to lift without a problem!
It has always been hard to find a bed in good condition. In my younger days I was looking for an old F100 bed. What year I can't remember, but I found one in a upstate New York barn. They were using it as a cover over a bike. It actually was in decent condition. Just surface rust and flaking paint. But it turned out to be more money than I planned on spending. The bike was a BSA Lighting and I got a good deal on both as a pair. They were glad to get that corner of the barn cleared out.
Afternoon all, didn't have much going on at work today. Came back and got one of the wheels on my truck balanced, had a dent in it so I wanted to make sure it would balance ok and it's all good. Also adjusted my rear brakes, took Jim's suggestion and worked on them to fix my soft pedal. Turns out my adjusters were totally frozen, got a pair of new ones from the parts store, put some anti-seize on them and then put them on, the pedal feels great and the truck stops well! I'm glad to have another problem solved on the truck, although when I had my wheels off the back of the truck, I noticed another crack in the frame right in between the leaf spring mount. I really need to buy a welder and fix the two crack's I've found so far, and also the holes right in the cup of the shock mounts!
