Sorry for all the posts/questions but you guys always seem to have the answers.
Last night I unhooked my batteries (because I was working around the GPR).
Everything is fine (starting/running etc) but just to be safe I hooked up my scanner and it threw the P0603 code, which is "Internal Control Mod Kam Error" which has to do with the PCM memory as it pertains to driving data.
Since I unhooked the batteries I guess the memory was dumped?
Did I get the code because I unhooked the batteries?
I cleared the code and it hasn't come back yet....
Just want to be sure
Nothing to worry about here. While the batteries were disconnected the PCM, GEM and any other computer system lost primary and any stored power dissipated. After a few key starts, the code will clear, or you can clear it and it won't come back.
P0603 will be stored in the PCM anytime the KAM is reset. It lets the Technician know that the memory has been cleared and that adaptive learning must tale place prior to performing other tests.
The KAM is primarily to store the Long Term Fuel Trim (LTFT) and the Short Term Fuel Trim (STFT) Data for the next event once the vehicle is warmed up.
We have no stored data other than historic and current DYC's in our (99-03 Diesel) KAM.
