The two transmissions that I posted are not a match? I'm having a heck of a time locating this transmission. Can someone please tell me a good substitute. How is the standard three speed. Everyone that I call and talk to says they have either a C6 transmission or the standard three speed. Even autozone offers the standard three speed.
There is no X member on any Ford truck. X members are usually installed on convertibles and hardtops to strengthen the frames.
What the OP is referring to is the bolt-on rear engine support (some people call this a cross member) that the trans mount bolts to.
The post you quoted originally contained my phone number, which I deleted once the OP called me and we hashed out the problemo.
I just used "x-member" as shorthand for cross-member forgetting that some older vehicles actually had X-members. My bad...where I work x-is always shorthand used for "cross" as in "x-contamination" = cross-contamination, "x-ref" = cross-reference, etc.
MTFRD018 is that a good part number for 3.03 three speed?
This is not a part number, in fact I have no idea what it refers to.
There were myriad different part numbers due to the fact that 1963/80 cars, 1963/83 F100's, 1963/86 F250's, 1966/77 Bronco's and 1965/87 Econolines used the 3.03 trans.
One type does not fit all, but most of the internal parts are the same.
I saw this 3 speed on eBay and want to ensure it is the right thing before I purchase it. He says that he thinks it came out of a 70s F100. I don't know but I'm assuming that the bell housing is what determines what engine it bolts up to. With that being said, can I use the bell housing that I presently have and bolt it up to this transmission?
