Hubcap / Wheelcover Question

I am finishing up my 1965 F100 disk brake upgrade using a 1973 F100 front end. What is an OEM hubcap or wheelcover that will fit with the "new" front spindles? Thanks in advance! John

John What were you running before, your wheel bolt pattern is the same, you can run your old wheels. There are far too many options to give you a specific answer.

The Rims/Wheels fit great but the hubcaps that were on the truck (Type 3) will not fit the front due to the new spindle & dust cap length.

Do you want a dog dish or full wheel cover?

Do you have innie or outer nubs on the wheel?

I thought there was an issue with the old 65 wheels not clearing the calipers after the upgrade. Is that not always the case?

The donor Im using is a 79. Is it the later model wheels that present the problem?

John Not to argue but that is something that comes up here enough for my recall. As the Grape mentioned fitment on the back side is known.

You are saying that you have tried to install your old wheel & hubcap that you were running before the upgrade and the hubcap will not go on?

Sorry for the confusion! Correct, I am using the existing wheel (rim and tire) and they fit and clear fine but my hubcap will not fit due to the length of the "new" spindle and dust cap covering the outer bearings and nut. I currenlty have the TYPE 3 "dog dish" outie hub caps and am looking for other options that will fit.

I would prefer the "dog dish" outie hub caps if I can find some that will now fit after the disk brake upgrade.

I have never heard of the type 2 not fitting on a disc conversion. Those come painted or stainless steel. They are not reproduced.

The type 1 are for innie wheels.

The type 4 are for 16in F250 wheels.

This thread has pics of the type 2 and the Fairlane caps I was using.

John I agree with the rider, I have to wonder if you might have some kind of fat cap on the spindal. Number Dummy may have further info but that is usually not a problem at all. If the wheel bolts up and turns OK......... all is good most days.

Pull a dust cover and see if it might be extended.

Pretty simple, use the bottle cap hubcap that was used on disc brake 1973 thru 1976 F 100's. Its not shown on the old chart you posted.

Thanks, I have considerd that if I'm unable to find some mid 1960s that will fit. But, I'll need help identifying the 73-76 ones as the truck I pulled the brakes from did not have any on it....

^ TYPE 3 = 1967/72 F100 / TYPE 1 = 1961/66 F100 "Innie" / TYPE 2 = 1965/66 F100 "Outie." ^

No "Innie" wheels/hubcaps after 1966.

TYPE 5 (TYPE 3 below): C6AZ-1130-G .. 15" Wheel Cover (reproduced) / 2WD Optional: 1966/77 F100 & 1975/77 F150.

v TYPE 7 = 1973/77 F100 & 1975/77 F150 / TYPE 10 = 1978/83 F100 & 1978/89 F150. v
