should I rebuild E4OD
for the most part my transmission seems to work good. firm 1-2 shift, but very soft 2-3 and 3-4, and reverse with double bump/feels like double engagement-when shifting into reverse the first bump is practically instant, and the second bump with full engagement is about two seconds after.
what do you think? rebuild? or should I just fix up the accumulator to firm up the sifts(I'll use the Sonnax accumulator valves for this)?
thanks for any advice!
oh and its a 1993 F150 5.8 4X4, 200,000 on the truck but not sure how much is on the trans.
I've decided I'm just going to rebuild it. I figure even though its not bad yet it probably isn't too far from getting there. I'll be doing several upgrades during the rebuild, but unfortunately my budget is already reaching its limits and I wont be able to do all the upgrades I'd like to.
Thanks, I will definitely be rebuilding it. I've already got everything I should need ordered.
what's your opinion on doing the center support upgrade? I understand that the bearing version is a lot stronger and longer lasting but is it really worth it?
I'm already planning to upgrade the TC with a triple disc unit, use the transgo kit to convert the PWM converter control to on/off instead of the stock pulse modulated setup, and install the transgo HD2 tugger shift kit. Also plan to use the bonded accumulator pistons, and the spiral snap ring for the OD retainer.
Pump will get new gears, and new valves, springs, bushings. (basically rebuilt, with more flow).
I have a (what i think is) a quality rebuild kit picked out. I have a tuner on the truck, but my mods are light, no big injectors, or dual hpop setups, just a nice boost via the chip. I am also going to follow the ATSG rebuild guide as close to the letter as I can ( some special tools I will not be buying).
Ya, you could say that I want to upgrade anything that will increase durability, and performance, as a side benefit.
Thanks in advance!
