need a little help

I know nothing about diesel engines, i bought a 2008 f-350, it seems to drive great. every now and then i will be driving around town and a cloud of smoke will come out the tail pipe. it doesn't smoke all the time just when stop and go around town. is there a way to make the truck regen. not sure if i have a problem or not.

Could be a number of things. How many miles on your truck? What colour is the smoke? What are the conditions when it does smoke?
