I have 1 dumb question seeing as I am new to the diesel world, should black smoke come out the tailpipe on a stock f250 6.0 with 22,000 miles on take off? Just got her back after 2 days at the dealer for a FICM replacement (Should have maybe taken 20 min in my mind.) I am not to happy about the 2 days lost, I do love the truck though.
Does the smoke smell rich like diesel fuel. If it is a little puff of smoke at first, it is most likely not an issue. It is constant, then you still have a problem.
Mine smokes but its Tunned from Innovative.... in all seriousness, if you jamb on the throttle hard it may smoke a little, but normal acceleration there should be little to no smoke at all. I think when I run mine on the stock tune in may smoke a tiny bit every once in a great while.
Also with the tune in it she doesnt smoke unless I nail it from a stop which I only do if needed to get out of someone or somethings way.

The smoke is a little stinky, but this truck has never smelled the greatest since the day one. As for the smoke it only happens for about 3 to 4 seconds at take off once driving it seems to clear up.
