When I first acquired this truck in 2008 I never thought I'd have done so much work to it, I wanted to restore it all original, so first of I redid all the stock brakes new and slapped some rubber on the wheels to get it rolling around.
The truck didn't come with an engine or front end. So I tried to get an original engine, and found one on ebay. I even won the auction, so I paid the winning bid and began to arrange shipping from Michigan to California. And that's when I decided to go a different way. And it made things so much easier. I was able to source a rebuildable sbf and transmission within driving distance on
ebay for 300.
While rebuilding the motor I found a 1951 f2 complete front end for 150. F2 wheel arches are way bigger than the rear f1 fenders arches so it looked funny but better than nothing.
and when that's done I'll be doing that back panel on the cab, then the floor and front cab corners. That linkage I made did not work too well, it was pulling from the wrong angle and binding.
The rear of the cab is pitted pretty badly with pin holes. The bed panel is kicked in and was rubbing for who knows how long.But I've got a 4x10 sheet of 18ga. So I'm gonna use it up.
Been making my way around the cab, mostly just cutting stuff up so far, made some replacement pieces and started getting em in place but it's been slow going.
Your fabrication work looks great. Have you purchased new front cab corners? They are a quality piece for very reasonable $ and you will need to put them in before welding in that floor panel.
