Well mine is the following:
Width - 0.244 inches
Threaded Length - 1.728 inches
Total Length - 1.890 inches
Threads Per Inch - 20
Total Thread Count - 31

i have checked my 85, my 79 and the other 3 carbs i have in the garage. they all came out to 1/4-20 thread. is it possible that either A) the hole has been worn beyond limits? B) the internal threaded piece thats fastened to the top of the carb was modded or changed out for a different size thread?
is it larger or smaller than 1/4 inch? might be a couple things you could play with from the hardware store to make it work.
