I want a front camera. I love my backup camera and would love same feature on front. Would like to be able to use same nav screen and switch on when needed.
I can get aftermarket items with lots of features like a "4D Tech Can Opener", but don't care about any of the many features except the camera. There has to be a simpler solution.
What camera brand?

Any suggestions appreciated.
the system by itself doesn't support multiple cameras..
so a Lockpick, or the 4D system are required to add that capability..
both support aftermarket cams as well.. you can use the cam in the blue oval, or hang a cam someplace else.
Personally I'd rather have a second camera under the rear cargo light aimed at the fifth wheel hitch. It's a little ruff seeing the alignment with a crew cab and yes I did remove the middle seat head rest.
I dont get why you would want one? Whats the use for? Maybe if hooking up to a plow or somthing. My eyes are my front cameras! Im a bit confused.
Im with ya on this one.Inguess im a little old school with looking out the front window and having a "feel" of where my front end is.I can put the bumper within an inch of most objects.

I can't. I had a camera on my 2011 that I ran thru my aftermarket nav. With my '14 I didn't have the ability to run video to the MyFord so I installed front sensors through an upfitter. When I'm parking I just flip the switch and listen for the beeps. Without it I've been known to tap a bumper or two
Well I reckon I got a few responses, most very helpful. It is absolutely amazing the amount of information and technical expertise to be found on this forum. You guys are talented AND great. I on the other hand am simply great with NO "truck talent" at all and need all the help I can get.
I thank you very much for the info.
For those who question why:
1. My dogs. Despite the lectures and instructions I have given them, some are slow learners, especially the younger ones who seen to have quite limited attention spans. Our favorite dog ever was killed just this way (by our house keeper who drives an Explorer).
2. I have a light bar with some fairly pricey lights on it that stick out pretty far and I want to keep them intact. As I feel sure you realize these trucks are big and I want to keep my rear end intact so I have to get as close to those 3 foot concrete filled steel posts as possible. Where I live some folks drive by braille.
3. I occasionally am forced to go to WalMart. Trust me, here in south Georgia one needs to be constantly aware of EVERYTHING around you in a Walmart. parking lot.
Thanks for the encouragement. I doubt I will ever be able to do anywhere near what most on this forum can. I am barely able tie to my shoe laces.
I have no plans for many of the modifications, but things always need fixing. My truck is still under warrenty and I do not want to jeopardize that.
I was a half way decent wrench turner in my youth, but vehicles are so much more complicated now I can barely manage to get the hood open. So much is electronic and electrons and I don't seem to get along all that well.
I very much enjoy learning and seeing what can be done though. I have for reasons inexplicable always wanted a diesel truck so I got one. There is a lot more to them than I realized.
