To skid or not to skid?

Hi all, found a dealer...good offer on trade...found a truck.....has almost everything i want. I'll need the hardware for a turnover ball installed, and lastly... skid plates, which left me wondering, do i really need them?

I have skid plates on my sig truck, haven't really ever noticed them, until they're packed with snow and ice dripping allover the garage floor. I don't "plan" on doing any aggressive off roading etc. So again, anyone feel passionately one way or another about the venerable skid plates?

Thanks for the replies all!
NS

I added them myself to my 09. Very easy install. So, if the truck is perfect, buy it and add them after the fact if you want them. I ordered mine from one of the online Ford parts dealers. Or, maybe you could work with the dealer you're buying from to do it for you for a good price?

Exactly my thoughts, thanks Karl.

Anyone have idea why some 2015 trucks have the words "2015 Model Year" in the options section on the window sticker, and some don't?

Thanks again!

I added the FX4 package to my order to get the skid plates and IMO they were a waste of money. The entire bottom of the engine and tranny are exposed and the only real place I noticed a solid skid plate was over the fuel tank which I had to remove anyways. Had I known exactly what would have been included for the addition of the FX4 package, I wouldn't have included it. I'd leave them out if I were in your shoes and can almost guarantee you'll never miss them.

Great point Brandon, and thank you for it.

Going to have a talk with the dealer tomorrow, here's to what's next!
