coolant flush
Hey guys I pulled my thermostat housing off to put a new one in and notice that the coolant had a muddy substance in it so I wanna keep it clean since 460 like there temperature just right. And make water pump last longer. One guy told me just stick garden hose down and flush everything out, but I really don't like thought of that cause it don't get the pressure threw the water pump and intake to really clean it out any ideas or good place to take my truck

I usually install a flush "T" in the heater core line, remove the T-Stat, and then flush with garden hose. It really blows the gunk out. Others have drained the radiator, then refilled with water and some flush cleaner, and driven around for awhile. Then just drained and repeated until coolant/water was clean. Only problem is that your gonna be more water than coolant. I usually use an air hose to purge all the coolant from block of possible and disconnect the lower radiator hose when done. You should be able to get most of everything out. Then I refill with straight coolant, no pre-mix. After you have it close and purged the air out, I just top off with some distilled water or some pre-mixed 50/50 I made with the straight coolant.
