It wont let you turn headlights if no voltage is detected it has a battery back up to retain info stored in computer

Getting light wasn’t the point. Draining the electronics is. Regardless, it works. There are settings that the PCM(?) battery doesn’t retain and also resets the TCM, because the learned patterns are gone. I’m not up on the proper names, but there are technical names for the levels of computer memory.
