I just changed the factory brake pads on my 2002 7.3 for the first time in 238,000 miles. They still had a few thousand miles left. The rotors were just fine with a turning also. As good as the factory pads did me I spent the 90 dollars and got the oem pads again. My question was as to the floating pins and rubber boots though. The bushings in the piece that the caliper mounts to that straddles the rotor are very rusted. I cleaned them up as well as I could with emery cloth and a screwdriver and the pins slide freely now. Is there replacement bushings available? Also does anyone know the part numbers for the Ford pins and rubber boots (several boots had tears in them)? Not at all interested in aftermarket as I highly doubt anything aftermarket would have lasted as well as the Ford parts did and so I will just stick with them.
you can get reman brake caliper brackets. Possibly new bushings in them. Not sure if they are sold individually or a pair but price at Advance Auto is $31 with $3 core. I suspect they are priced each. Part number is BK608. Same part number fits either side.
