Yea, I'd give you a 99.999% the rear switch sucks & problematic & that it is the one turning on the lights conclusive with the "slam method " Where I was going is: when the alarm goes off FOR ANY REASON does IT turn on the lights ?? IF NOT I think you've got it dicked BUT if it does I think it's a crap shoot....

The good thing about my alarm is that it tells me what set it off. Ether a window break or a shake of the car or a door trigger. And i will try the wd40 but it wont last so i rather just fix it

Read post #9 on the thread you posted up...There are better sprays FYI
And for what it's worth regarding the spray solution not lasting - and again I might just be lucky - but I'm on 2.5 years since I 'fixed' mine that way. I'll replace the whole assembly next time if it comes back, but for now, my back hatch door is still not a jar.
The rear hatch switches are in the corners of the hatch. Not very easy to get to from the inside. I just used some long needle nose pliers and disconnected the connector on each switch so that the Ex doesn't know when i have the hatch open.
Thanks NB: Did not have the left side wire info I'm looking for. These treads seem to be the precursors to the 2 I do have .. Both with greats pics & how fors..The left side wire is the latest & greatest I THINK , I know for sure if I can ever find it again.... Thanks Again

What corners? So this is the problem and not the latch?
I just experienced the same problem with my door ajar dash light and interior lights staying on. I read this thread and sprayed WD40 on the latches (mechanical latching mechanism on the bottom corners of the liftgate) and it fixed the problem immediately. Thanks guys!

Ok I know the thread is a few months old but feel the need to share my experience. I was experiencing this problem last winter, no amount of lubricant spray fixed the problem. I made a pigtail so I could test both sides and found the passenger side wasn't contacting. my rig is an 02, had an 01 parts car, so I thought I would switch the latches out, but in my testing I found that the 01 was a normally open switch, 02 is nc. So the switches look the same but don't interchange. So that meant that on the 02 and up you can't merely disconnect one side so the ex doesn't know it's open. I eventually unplugged that passenger side and pushed a jumper wire into the contacts so that side always shows that the hatch is closed.

Here are the part numbers for superdutys and Excursions. The rear hatch/liftgate has one on each side so you can use the driver for driver side and passenger for passenger side latch.
