Wow, I leave for a few months, and every thing blows up? I looked back at last years comments, looks like it got a tad heated. I have been stupid busy since taking this new job, seems like between work, kids, home life and everything else I have not had much time for anything... I ended up taking a pretty big pay cut to start here so I have to have 50 hrs a week to make up for what I was making before.
I still have not worked on my F450 much, I pulled some more parts off the motor and pulled some wiring harnesses off the top to get it ready to pull, My parents are getting tired of my "parts truck" sitting at their house. I have been holding off on pulling the motor just yet, since I don't have a place to store the engine and parts since I have a carport that isn't fully enclosed, so I have a garage door and closer and have to do some work on it to get it up.

Yea I imagine it would be sort of hard to figure out exactly what happened, since so many posts were deleted/edited. It's all ancient history now though. I am the current schmuck at the Helm of our little AZ FTE family now.
Sucks about taking a pay cut, but at least you have a job that can give ya the hours to make up for it. This economy can be brutal at times. Hope ya get your truck situation handled soon!
I've been wanting a HD softail but not sure I really want a bike.
Lets just say this:
If you are going to get the bike with plans of getting rid of it a couple years later don't get it!
I say this because when we lost our 09 FXDC (Harley Davidson super glide custom) we figured we would stay away from bikes. Well a year later we ended up saving up to buy a 09 FXDF (Harley Davidson Fat Bob (spelled right)) and lost it in the fire again figuring we would stay away from bikes (mostly for money reasons) a year later we got my 73 Harley Davidson XLCH 1000 and another year dad got a 07 Harley FLSTC (heritage softail classic).
Moral: Bikes are addicting. LOL If it didn't get cold out here in the winter and their was no bad days (rain and wind) like in tuscon and phoenix most of the time then I would hands down be on the bike way more then then driving the trucks but out here unfortunately we have to do the opposite.

Trav......question for ya on bikes. I'm looking at a project bike possibly, a Honda V-F 1100. He says all it needs is the carb put back on. He had to replace some cable because of "death throttle" (no clue???) And never put the carb back on, and doesn't want to, just wants to get rid of it. I know diesels, not carbs......is that a simple bolt on, and hook up fuel lines on that bike? I might be getting a hunk of junk, but it's pretty cheap haha.
I couldn't tell you for sure as I don't know that model but it probably is if it is just like my 73 Harley.
Only thing I ever have seen called death throttle is the throttle cable or accelerator pump sticking wide open. I personally had that problem on my bike and when I fixed the carb (cleaned it up) and put it back together I added dual cables to the bike for safety and plus the looks I am going for.

I talked to the guy again, and he did say the death throttle, was a cable sticking WIDE open, and he replaced it, and just never mounted the carb back onto the bike. He says it runs great, but refuses to mount the carb himself, he is just done with the bike. I've never messed with carbs other than adjusting floats/chokes and cleaning them a little. Is it an easy thing, like just bolt it on, and hook up fuel lines? I know it's a different bike, but I figured a carb is a carb haha......I'm just a shade tree mechanic at best!
Krisverde, it looks like Blue Bomber is running great!
I just got my truck out of the shop, 4x4 issues once again. What I thought all along was hub issues, was actually a bad wheel bearing, that was affecting how the hub was lining up with the inner splines. All sorts of play/slop happening, and it would only lock in when it felt like it. So........I picked it up yesterday, and in the parking lot when I was leaving, I felt TONS of slop in my steering wheel. Now it's going BACK in......for worn bearings/steering shaft. Not sure what is going on inside, but I'm pissed off because the shop did it, but isn't owning up to it. It was perfect when I dropped it off, and was jacked up when I picked it up. Can't prove a thing.....and they didn't touch anything on the steering parts. I think he used my steering wheel as a handle to climb in with........$$$ needs to start growing on trees at my house!
Travis sorry your weekend wasn't the best. Ours had something in favor. We got rid of a truck and gained another one. Got rid of the 02 F250 and got a 2010 F150 lariat.
Trav
Well my truck is all fixed (I hope) and I get back back to Predator hunting. It's about the only thing that carries me thru until Spring fishing starts. They are catching some whoppers up at Powell right now though on the Stripers......tempting, very tempting! Have a good week everybody!
hi all, checking in, I have been crazy busy, I took a part time job rebuilding a Bell 206 L3 helicopter, it is a retired Los Angles fire department aircraft that had been sitting for about 4 years and a lot of parts taken off of it. it is just about done, engine overhauled and put back in, transmission removed dis-assembled and inspected and put back in, freewheeling unit removed dis-assembled, inspected and put back in, fuel system removed, inspected and put back in. interior removed, stripped all paint and re painted. all of the fire department equipment removed, cleaned up wire harnesses. went to radio shop yesterday for ICS install. rotor head and blades removed, dis-assembled inspected, new TT straps in and ready to install. still need to inspect tail boom and install it, install interior after radio shop is done, install main rotor and than start the test flights.
thinking I am almost done, the company wants me to work full time now. They have a flight school in Prescott, one in Baton Rouge, talking about one in Southern Arizona and Northern New Mexico.
all this and still running my own business!
