My rear steel brake line is shot. I was looking on advance autos site and they have kits that include fittings and a roll of copper tubing. Anyone ever use this? I would like the reassurance of the copper not rusting but I'm not completely sold on the idea of it holding up to the pressures and heat of the brake system.
i agree that the OP is probably talking about the nickle/copper alloy lines.
that is all i have been using for about ten years now. steel lines only last about a year. the alloy lines are all still in use.
I used nickel copper to re-plumb my 64 F100 and would not use anything else. The cost is 2x steel but you can get 25 foot coils for $30 an Amazon. Besides not rusting, you can make nice bends by hand (or with soup and tomato paste cans) and tight 90 degree kink free bends with a 3 roller hand bender. It flares easy it you lubricate the flares with brake fluid.
Anyone split some rubber hose to space the line off of the frame in spots it may rub? A softer material that may rub through was my only concern and i may just be overly cautious.
