for those with an intercooler...

I am new here, however I do know in fact that Oreo is running an intercooler from a 6.0.

My buddy has a 2008 SD with the 6.4. He is upgrading his cooler and giving me his stocker.

I have a 1994 7.3 with factory turbo with boost increased to 10/15. I just purchased new injectors from Russ and am about to purchase a new IP. This new IP will be turned up, therefore my desire for a cooler.

Here is my question, I am aware that the stock coolers range from $100/200. BUT, this does not include the piping.

How labor intensive am i looking for the plumbing/piping to install an intercooler. Do I bring it to an exaust shop or something of that nature???

Thank you in advance

Hey j, the 6.0 cooler is a good cooler, but do know that they are a lot more difficult to install than the 7.3 coolers because they're bigger. I helped a buddy of mine down south install his, the piping can be a super pita, but i can give you a hand if you need it. Oh and i'll get on my puter in a min. And send you a pic of that pyro if you want it

i was talking to oreo last night he was saying use a 7.3 not to 6.0 cause the turbo has problem with pushing the volume of air that the 6.0 sucks in cause it so big

your on a catch 22 there bud. the bigger the cooler the colder the charge. but the larger the intercooler the harder your turbo will have to work to fill it up. i got no more then 4psi in my cooler but it ran like the n/a with 15lbs. if you wanna know if it will work, just measure his radiator and make sure if its as wide as yours. if it is then it will be fine.

Does the intercooler go empty when the engine is off? Cmon guys it creates a little lag but not much, I have tried both6.0 and 7.3, Not much difference.

the factory turbo doesnt add much power anyways so you dont notice the lag. you notice the mpg gain though

agreed Oreo. Thats probably why an aftermarket cooler for 6.0 OR 6.4 are $1500+

well, your motor doesnt have one, so any cooling is better then no cooling. you can find a nice small universal one off ebay. 2"-3" inlet is fine. the tubing to and from the intercooler alone will help.
