I just got back from a little camping trip. On the way home my steering would clunk everyone once in awhile when I would turn. It sounds llike it binds up alittle before releasing with a clunk. This is not good since I justhad the gear box replaced last year. I have a '69 F250 with power steering. Any ideas?
after further review, it appears that it is coming from the column. I drove it today. No noises on the way to work. On they way home, it started clunking only when I turned left. Then I did it one time to the right.
See if your front cab mounts are bad. My truck had binding and cracking when I turned . My body man knew what it was even without looking under the truck. He did a temp fix by jacking up the truck and driving a short 2x4 between the floorboard and the frame. This simple thing made the steering perfect. When I had the money and the parts he fixed it right. Good luck.
