i bought a 1989 f150 4x4 has the 5.0L and the front tank had a leak so i tried the back it also leaked but after about 3 miles it started choking out after 35mph then i slowed down it was fine then it happend again this time it clunked and died it has 97,000 miles so i wouldnt think fuel pump but thats my guess so let me know
So I read your problem to mean the truck will not run on either tank?
If so then it could be a plugged fuel filter or the frame rail mounted high pressure fuel pump may be bad. You need to check the fuel pressure at the test port on the fuel rail (driver side near the front).

no it runs fine on the other tank but the back one anything over 35 itll clunk and kinda slowly die front tanks fine

In that case the rear pump has a problem. Your vintage truck has a low pressure pump in each tank. They feed into a Dual Function Reservoir before heading to the frame rail mounted high pressure pump. The filter sock on the pump could be plugged or the pump itself may be bad.
It's possible but usually, problems like that are just taking a break and will return. If the age of the truck and mileage warrant start getting parts together now for the task, maybe knock one tank out at a time.
