So, I've got a bit of a conundrum here as I need to reinforce my firewall (in my '88 F-150) as the plate that the clutch master cylinder is mounted on has separated from the firewall and flexes out when pushing the clutch pedal (there's a few screws holding it in place short-term). The proper part for my truck (per TSB 90-16-7) is #E8TZ-7K509-A -- does anyone know where I can find it? I've searched this forum and elsewhere and the few hits I got are currently outdated and no longer available.
I realize there's also the option of the plate for the 1987 and prior trucks, which is part #E3TZ-7K509-A -- I think I know where I can find that part but as far as I can tell it won't fit my truck, right? Does anyone know how much work it would take to make it fit a 1988 F-150?
And of course there's also the large plate which is available from a number of different sources but I don't have the time or expertise to do that myself and and don't have the money to have someone else install it.
I bought one just a month ago after everyone telling me they were no longer to be found. I got it from a Ford dealer in Washington state who got it from a place in Wisconsin. It was on the internet under the part number. I think I paid about $10.00 for it plus shipping. It was the small one but they had the larger one as well. I got it from Horizon Ford but can not remember who they got it from but if I can find the receipt I will let you know. Keith
Also I have a late 87 truck and the one I got had the holes one on top of the other on the clutch cylinder. The other one has the top hole off to the side but do not remember which one is which. I would think you could make either work though

Keith, if you're able to find the name of that Wisconsin dealership I'd appreciate it. I did just give Horizon Ford a call and they told me the only place currently showing it in stock was a place in Cali (Perry Ford) but I called that dealer and they said they don't actually have and it and don't show anyone else having it.
It was not a dealership in Wisconsin, it was a place something like Ford obsolete but not sure of the name. I looked for the receipt but did not find it. Also it was a special department at Horizon Ford called Horizonpartsguys.com. I just looked it up and called the number but now they send you to Horizon parts at 206-763-9111. I will keep looking for the Wisconsin place. Keith
If you want the little plate you should check Ebay.
They turn up now and again.
Just search that number and save the search, you will be notified when one is listed.
The early master cylinders were vertical holes, later ones with the clutch safety on the MC were on the diagonal.
If your firewall is really torn up check Terrapin Manufacturing for the big plate.
Send an email and you will get a reply.
Mind, that this guy does it as a sideline and stock is subject to availability.
I have been buying Ford truck and auto obsolete parts from them for years. I input your part number on the above site-and it didn't tell me that it wasn't available.
Email SilverState parts first----there is a good chance that they will have the part-or can get the part from a third party.
And their customer service has been outstanding in my experience.
I ended up going with a place called Donalsonville Motor Co. out of Georgia -- an ex Ford dealership that now deals in old parts, if I recall correctly. They were the only place that I found that had it. I did check Silverstate and NOS first and neither had it. It kind of feels like I might have the last one out there, at least until one pops up on eBay or something like that.
