Ha-Ha-Ha! Good one. Speaking of which, you know what the difference between a Violin and a Fiddle is?

A Violin has "strings" and the Fiddle has "straaaangs".
Just to put in my own direct experience, when I put power steering in my truck I filled it with Dexron. It didn't leak a drop in four years, and now after the diesel has been in there for three years, again with Dexron in the new style pump, the nearly 40 year old box hasn't leaked a drop.
My historic experience is that any Ford power steering system will leak and whine with the clear PS fluid, even my Explorer did. With Dexron, they are quiet and don't leak. Dumping the ATF and putting in Dexron fixed my Explorer.
Okay now you guys have got me wondering what to use. My 68 has a 77 power steering box and the pump I'm using came with the 79 351W from an LTD that I'm installing.

Ford has used both fluids with the CII pump. In 1978 when it came out Ford was still useing Type-F in the P/S. As I stated above,in the 80's when the tranny fluid changed so did the P/S fluid. I personally would use the Type-F. That's what your box, pump, and hoses should have had in them up 'till now.
Guys, I had a minute today, and remembered, I went out back popped the hood and pulled the sticks. The C6 read Use Type F, the PS stick read use approved fluid.
I will for him John since I'm right here. I too have worked back (shop) counter for years in my past. Back in the days of the Dent and older, mechanics and owners put Type-F in both the P/S and the Trannys. So Did Ford.
In 1977 Ford changed the fluid in the C4 - C6 & JATCO (only) to Dexron (Ford called in Mercon) but continued putting Type-F in the P/S.
Later on when ford came out with automatic overdrives, the fluid changed so Ford changed the P/S fluid also. Stopped using Type-F in everything from that moment to present date.
So IMHO the OP should remove that fluid he put in, put in Type-F, and re-bleed the system.
XT 2-QDX and etc.
Note references to TYPE F ATF - E6AZ-19582-A (replaced C1AZ-19582-A) & E6AZ-19582-AA, prolly replaced again...and again...and again.
